I saw an interview with Sean Hannity and John McCain. Aside from Hannity’s attempts to get McCain to “Obama Bash” (McCain would not bite) I actually got to hear some of McCain’s issues on energy.  It was really nice to hear some of McCain’s positions. Maybe if the conservative media spent 1/2 the time presenting McCain’s positions instead of “Obama Bashing” McCain might have a shot.

Of course aside from the medias (both liberal and conservative) “Jerry Springer” like coverage of this election we will eventually get to the presidential debate where we can hear them both and can make an informed decision. As ‘ol John said, the American people are smart.

I am on the road this week and thus far have been listening to Sirius radio. I just feel totally disconnected from the local environment. Maybe the world is changing and passing me by, but we live in a world where MySpace wins out over a face to face conversation, a text message instead of a phone conversation. It is not these technologies that I have a problem with. They all have there place in the world of communication. I have a problem with the way we are choosing to communicate with one another. Tomorrow I am tuning into FM … no static at all.

The media is NOT fairly covering the presidential election. News these days is more like an epsiode of Access Hollywood than it is news. The New York Times rejection of McCains op-ed piece is simply outrageous. Their defense of their decision is lame and absurd. Air time overtly favors Obama and is unfair to the American people.

An importance component of our democracy is our media.  Maybe they should stop acting like the Soviet Union media of the cold war era!

Hallelujah

Jeff Buckley

Well I heard there was a secret chord
That David played, and it pleased the Lord
But you don’t really care for music, do ya?
Well it goes like this
The fourth, the fifth
The minor fall and the major lift
The baffled king composing Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah

Well Your faith was strong but you needed proof
You saw her bathing on the roof
Her beauty and the moonlight overthrew you
she tied you to her kitchen chair
And she broke your throne and she cut your hair
And from your lips she drew the Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah

Well baby I’ve been here before
I’ve seen this room and I’ve walked this floor
I used to live alone before I knew ya
I’ve seen your flag on the marble arch
Love is not a victory march
It’s a cold and it’s a broken Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah

Well there was a time when you let me know
What’s really going on below
But now you never show that to me do you?
And remember when I moved in you?
And the holy dove was moving too
And every breath we drew was Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah

Well maybe there’s a God above
But all I’ve ever learned from love
Was how to shoot somebody who’d OUT DREW YA
And it’s not a cry that you hear at night
It’s not somebody who’s seen the light
It’s a cold and it’s a broken Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah

Yes, we need to look to long term solution to reduce our dependency on oil and foreign oil. Duh! But today we can seriously and significantly minimize the problem today.

Go to Stop Oil Speculation website and fill out their form to email to your congressman. Url, http://capwiz.com/sosnow/issues/alert/?alertid=11571321 . Do not let them asking for your phone number deter you. I you don’t want to supply one just make one up. This is too important an issue to sit on the side lines for.

Also, please pass this information to others!

If you want more scoop airline customers received a letter with very solid information on the subject. I have excepted below…

“Twenty years ago, 21 percent of oil contracts were purchased by speculators who trade oil on paper with no intention of ever taking delivery. Today, oil speculators purchase 66 percent of all oil futures contracts, and that reflects just the transactions that are known. Speculators buy up large amounts of oil and then sell it to each other again and again. A barrel of oil may trade 20-plus times before it is delivered and used; the price goes up with each trade and consumers pick up the final tab. Some market experts estimate that current prices reflect as much as $30 to $60 per barrel in unnecessary speculative costs.Over seventy years ago, Congress established regulations to control excessive, largely unchecked market speculation and manipulation. However, over the past two decades, these regulatory limits have been weakened or removed. We believe that restoring and enforcing these limits, along with several other modest measures, will provide more disclosure, transparency and sound market oversight. Together, these reforms will help cool the over-heated oil market and permit the economy to prosper.”
